Behnaz Balmaki, PhD
Assistant Professor of Research
University of Texas at Arlington
Experienced researcher with over a decade of expertise in palynology, pollination ecology, paleoecology, climate change dynamics, and geospatial data analysis. I am a self-motivated and hard-working professional with a strong desire to learn and grow, leveraging my skills in project management, problem-solving, and task organization. My research program focuses on understanding the responses of pollinators to past and future climate changes, as well as how pollination networks are adapting to anthropogenic disturbances. This involves integrating historical, spatial, and temporal gradient datasets from natural history museum specimens and observational data to examine the impacts of habitat loss, fragmentation, invasive species, and climate change on pollinator populations. My approach combines traditional methodologies with advanced machine learning tools to gather, identify, and build extensive datasets of plant-pollinator interactions across various spatial and temporal scales.
